100 People

What if the Earth’s 8 billion+ people were represented by only 100? You’d get stats like those below. This from 100people.org. Sources cited below.

If the world held only 100 people:

50 would be female

50 would be male

25 would be children

9 would be 65 and older

There would be 60 Asians and only 14 people from the all the Americas combined

23 would be Muslims and 31 Christians

Only 5 would speak English

86 would be able to read and write (but more men than woman)

7 would have a college degree

40 would have an Internet connection

54 would live in cities

78 people would have shelter

1 would be dying of starvation

11 would be undernourished

And 22 would be overweight

9 people would have no safe water to drink

14 would have no toilets

18 would not have electricity

And 11 would live on less than $1.90 USD per day
